Imagine that you're a Very Useful Factory. One that turns raw materials into manufactured goods.
And one day The Fat Controller demanded you to increase your output 3-fold.
Oh no, you thought. That's a 200% increase of goods I need to produce.
So what do you do apart from buying more machinery, increase your factory space, and hire more workers?
Maybe buy more raw materials, secure future supplies with pre-payments. And oh, you're producing more goods, so there's more goods currently work in progress.
Guess what? That's where all the money went. You write it down on your Preliminary Final Report for the Fat Controller to peruse.
Boy, you are a Very Useful Factory for working that out, and producing your goods. The Fat Controller is very happy with your outputs.
TL/DR: Your detractors are not arguing that what you're stating is wrong. But just that it lacks any context, critical thinking, or empathy for the situation - that it's meaningless.
