1. I doubt this is a bubble, but if it is a bubble now, then it was much more of a bubble with (and these are the 26 week highs):

- Blk at $1.01;
- Cxy at $.26;
- Glx at $.22;

2. The Russians have had long term and sucessful UCG plants, as have several other countries.

3. Issues such as potential contamination and sequestration are being actively addressed. This is an area that is only now becoming subject to much research and technological development.

4. The power is generated on a more stable basis that solar and wind (ie regardless of conditions) and fuel (as GLT) products can be used in conventional engine technology.'

5. The opposition is far less than with, say, nuclear.

It would be surprising if, eg Bp, decided to pursue a technology that was so obviously flawed, as you seem to suggest.

7. The concerns about oil and sheer quantity of coal are major imperatives for the energy sector to make this work.
