Skipping over to calcium sulphate whisker, this is a very specialised product used in certain heat-resistant materials. Its value is based on both the generally favourable chemical properties of calcium sulphate for this purpose and the specialised 'whisker' crystal structure, which gives long crystal 'rods' with a length-to-diameter ratio typically in excess of 50.

Based on our investigations, we believe that there is a small but growing market for calcium sulphate whisker. As it is a replacement material for a much more expensive alternative, we believe that the prices should remain relatively robust, even if Intec were to substantially increase world production.
