I would only rely on global macros, changing market conditions and lastly is management walking the talk while keeping the above two factors Under check Becoz the fundies keep changing their tunes based on the above factors and their vested interests........
In a2's share price case in point when the results were declared the global macros had some dangerous looking dark clouds and SP did run hard from 10 to 16$ year to date that's a mouthwatering 60% profit on ur investment so fundies who analyse the dark clouds situations better than us retail ceased the moment a day b4 results......... hence the drop in price. it's a pure case of profit booking for their clients when the times were though (tradewar, fed and macro numbers world wide etc)
Now the same fundies will try and pick up these shares cheaper (IMO have started to do already) because I can't think of any large cap company in asx deliverd 40+% returns on all 3 revenue, ebita and npat front and which is a consumer Staple ( which is considered all weather sector)....... Coming to the big talking point the so-called selloff has happened Becoz of "higher marketing spend" I don't think any of the fundies would be so naive to not Understand in a FMCG company U cannot win market share unless U gradually increase ur sales to marketing cost ratio time to time, as it is the very nature of the consumer Staples game........ As brand recall and brand awareness is a critical component of growing market share.
i for one think the share price corner has been turned last week and it was a very healthy correction and SP may not oblige the majority who are waiting for 12$ gap to be filled for buying instead so might have made up its mind to fill the 14.4 to16$ gap.....
of course the above is my opinion only
