AXIOM WELCOMES POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM INSPECTORSAxiom Mining Limited has expressed delight at the positive feedback it received from government mines inspection team that visited its nickel mine site on San Jorge in Isabel Province last week. The inspection was part of the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification’s normal inspection of mine sites in Solomon Islands to ensure that all mining operations are compliant with the country’s mining laws and environmental regulations.Axiom General Manager Dr Phil Tagini and Geologist Jack Takae facilitated the visit of the company’s mine site for the government mines inspectors giving them an overview of the whole mining operation and showing them around the campsite, drinking water source, mine pits and stockpile area where nickel ore are graded and blended to meet international market requirements.Speaking after the inspection, Dr Tagini said: “We are delighted to receive positive feedback from the MMERE mines inspection team that visited our mine site at San Jorge yesterday. All members of the inspection team have spoken highly of Axiom and the commitment we have demonstrated in complying with the country’s mining laws and environmental regulations in the manner we carry out our operations on San Jorge and expressed that are satisfied that we are ready to proceed to the exportation phase. They said they are going to formally inform us and if there are any recommendations.”“We also received a positive feedback from the previous inspection carried out by the joint World Bank and MMERE team in May this year and we are proud of our good reputation as a law-abiding mining company.”The inspection team Leader and Principal Mining Engineer Hefford Panapio said: “I’m glad that I come here. You guys have done a good job.”Dr Tagini said with the positive feedbacks, Axiom looks forward to see the Minerals Board consider the company’s Export Permit application based on merit instead of allowing politics to dictate its decision. He said Axiom’s nickel mine project has the potential to contribute 15 to 20 percent of the country’s GDP when in full operation and this is a substantial contribution to the national economy that the country cannot afford to forgo. The Panapio-led team included Senior Mines Inspector Elizabeth Belapitu, Senior Economic Geologist Elmeleck Vamuke, Principal Geochemist William Angisiramo and Assistant Geochemist Allen Ramo.EndsSOURCE: AXIOM MININGAxiom geologist Jack Takae showing the lateritic soil at Axiom’s nickel mine site on San Jorge to Members of the MMERE mines inspection Team. The full MMERE mines inspection team posing with Axiom geologist Jack Takae (second from left) at the mine-site.
