    Folks

I'll try to answer Rathmore's question.

Sav-J & Ameliustag have talked about GTL so it all ties in well. Sorry if this sounds repetitive. Here goes.

Firstly gas associated with Coal is Methane. I'll try to keep the explanation simple. The term "light HC" can extend upto C3 (propane), heavies are C4, C5's & beyond.

If you read the ann'mnt where they reported the gas breakdown @ 1687m few days back, out of Total gas content of 21698 ppm,

    1) The individual gas ratios in % are 92/6.3/1.6/traces (ie first no. being methane & traces being C4 to C5). Hence the statement that "Light HC's can b generated".

    2) No fluoroscene was reported, again indicative of light HC's & no oil bearing HCs or heavy gases.

    3) In the statement this arvo, the line, "Permian coals are Exinite rich & under right conditions generate significate liquid & gas HC's", Exinite is a kind of organic rich matter (aka Kerogen) that produces gas/oil depending on higher Carbon to H2 ratio.

As long as the C1-C3 is high its all light gas.

    Cheers
