Cant understand how that came about beyond the fact the "perp" pleaded guilty to manslaughter ...... maybe they didnt have a strong enough case against him to prove murder and the judge settled for the manslaughter? Even so, the guy deserved more than he got. I remember many decades back, the penalty for rape in the US was death. The penalty here for the kidnap, rape, and causing the death of a child should be death, in my book.
