A Mini run, God's kitchen? Yeah, Baby!

Dino, what an insightful comment. "Companies that stay within their core area of expertise have a better chance of prospering."

Was talking today with a mate about Unilife. Had the thought that Unitract technology might, in time, become the global industry standard. Why? Because the world (US/EU at least, so far) is legislating for needlestick injury-free sharps.

    How?

Take 25% of the global market for RTFS with Sanofi, exclusive. Add in the Unitract safe syringe 1 ml range etc. Grant Sanofi the right to sub-license the technology, capture how much more market share for little extra cost?

    Who to?

Competitors and generic pharmas, all of whom have their own drugs to deliver.

    Why would Sanofi sublicense?

Because all the major pharmas and generics OWN their own drugs, so no skin off Sanofi's nose to give them the new disruptive technology delivery mechanism, and standardise delivery. Today's hope is tomorrow's expectation. Clip the ticket on the way through for no extra outlay.

If you own the syringe technology that is required by law in most of the developed world and you're partnered with the #1 Euro and #4 Global Pharma, (Sanofi) the #2 Chinese Medical Device manufacturer,(KDL) and the #1 gloabl prefill user (Gerreisheimer), what have you got in 2011-2015?

    Dominant global market share.

Thought to sleep on: If Unilife/Sanofi did not intend to spread the technology through sub-license, why provide for it in the agreement?

    Sweet dreams.
