This should clarify your doubts about Westpac, another screenshot from the same article. Westpac is 100 billions dollar bank...it doesn't take decision lightly just to make Zip shareholders happy.
in the last cap rise Westpac bought all the shares available to them and actually is the second biggest shareholders. If it was just for investment purpose they could have sold and made a huge amount of money out of it.
