I think some others are looking to see a similar story play out in other stocks they see as similar to KDR - ie they are hoping LTR will be taken over for a premium on current price. And that approach may be valid. But I suspect that Mt Holland in the hands of WES (with plenty of cash) and SQM (with plenty of customer knowledge and a market share to protect) will cash a long competitive shaddow over other Australian lithium producers because it will have a capacity to ramp up production far greater than is currently reflected in existing ore reserves.
I expect WES will cash in on the gold assets and finance the drilling out and proving up to JORC standard of far greater reserves.
Which makes expecting to see a similar thing happen with say LTR as happened with KDR perhaps fraught with error as KDR isn't dead its just no longer available to retail as a direct play.
I'm watching AVZ (great resource - terrible location). I'll watch LTR. But I'm not keen because of the Mt Holland shadow.
So long as lithium batteries require cobalt I don't think the DRC can be ruled out - I believe the necessity for cobalt may mean the DRC is almost guaranteed to be a place for doing business for battery ingredients - and that means that Manono might become feasible as a project (same government and same laws, same sovereign risk profile - different roads and infrastructure though to the copper and cobalt in the DRC) despite the opinions of folk like Joe Lowry or @anatol on the LTR forum which to me seem knowlegeable but geographically blinkered
But I think the lithium developers may punish a lot of poor researchers. I think it will be pump and dump in a lot of lithium smalls.
I like CYP - a stem cell biotech company that has news pending on the 19th of September. Very tempted to sell my KDR now (wear the small amount of loss for brokerage and probably half a cent to the scalpers (perhaps UBS and/or Alpine might be buying with no brokerage to sell for 1.90).
Because the shareholder vote was as strong as it was - I can't see any surprises emerging from another player (ie. WES is going to get this) - I think if there was one they'd have come out at the takeovers panel or we'd have seen a notice re them appearing at the second court hearing.
I believe even well argued objections in the second hearing would produce at best the smallest of tweaks to the details of the scheme of arrangement.
