LOL Had to check my tape measure - so 2 inches out (how old am I ? - a dinosaur ). I think that would be my preference -

Your sister is wrong and I can tell the difference if something has been hand washed as opposed to d/w washed.
When married we did the kitchen and had to put ply where the d/w would one day go - had it plumbed and wired but
they were just too expensive and such luxury then. Finally got one.
Just don't walk into a full sized one when the door is open - many a person has done that including yours truly but
then again I am a little accident prone. LOL
Who knows - you may just end up with 2 d/w's depending on the price although compact will probably be just as expensive.
