I've had CCP shares for about 3 years, but never got into PNC or CLH. Have to admit I did not look at the amortisation rate intially or really think about the dishonesty in the sector, it was more about CCP having the highest ROE, EPS, growth and consistancy etc out of the listed industry. I think I may have inadvertantly saved myself a lot of money.

It makes sense in hindsight though. By inflated profits upfront I assume you mean buying 'fresh' ledgers and collecting the low hanging fruit, then buying new PDLs before the harder collections of older PDLs make a noticable impact? And lower amortisation, or higher 'fair value' in PNC's case, inflate the PDL asset values allowing more leverage to keep the cycle going longer with more fresh capital?
