Was God (divine) is in reference to john 1.1
when it says the word (gods son)
was god, means he was divine, same as his father (God)
Hebrews talks about how Gods son has a more important name than the created angels
That name, is God, and all the perogatives that go with the name God
This also is shown in hebrews with the acknowledgement of God himself
