If you are going to write, on a public forum, things such as "...'X'... conned us" (whoever 'us' might be) and "not trustworthy" you had best make sure it is clearly just your opinion, and not a universal fact.
Preface your statement by "It's my opinion that .." or "I think that ..." or I believe that ...". This will possibly help you stay out of the courts.
An aggrieved party has 2 years to lay a charge against a person for defamation.
HC has less than 24 hours to remove anything that might be deemed to be defamatory, lest it too face charges within the 2 years following.
