100% VH I am not a fan of Li batteries for cars either, their lifespan atm and for the foreseeable future is quiet short, I prefer hydrogen electric fuel cell.
Li batteries have there place and their life time is suited.

I do favor for larger scale batteries the vanadium and I would have thought they would be playing more of a role atm.

I have said this before, If the Chinese wanted to duplicate a thermal silicon storage unit they have the means of putting 100+ people on the job with all the dollars required and they would have something similar running in no time, but they have taken the easy road and will keep installing coal fired generators, base load guaranteed.

Highly unlikely Australia is going to build any more coal fired generators, so once there existing coal fired generators are shut down, where is base load going to come from. To build a new coal or nuclear will be way to late. From working directly with both Siemens and GE engineers nuclear will NEVER happen in AUS.

Major solar and wind are popping up in Aus like mushrooms. No matter on the efficiency of storage and regeneration it is going to have to be done.
Do we put a batteries in every house that only work for X time?
Do we rely on water for pumped hydro?
Do we rely on our government to make some smart decisions? I think not, getting reelected and BShing the public is the main game.
