Decades ago (!) high schools were doing simple experiments with actual identical greenhouses situated next to each other where CO2 was regulated and temperature recorded. No prizes for guessing how temperature varied with CO2 concentration. So CO2 is literally a greenhouse gas in more ways than one!

It has been known that CO2 traps heat through similar experiments in the 1800s, when man made CO2 global warming was first documented as a scientific prediction!
