capman just to clarify, the reasons behind drilling for oil first is that oil can provide earlier monetisation and hence bolster the company's financial position and future exploration drilling program. It also potentially gives the company enough cash to facilitate a rig purchase.

A successful oil well could potentially be in production 6 or so months after drilling, where as any gas finds would take years to convert to bankable revenue.

The CBM potential is going to take years to delineate hence getting it underway now. Once its delineated a bankable feasibility study could be undertaken and it will be much easier to attract JV partners for the GTL facility.
