The one billion dollars has not disappeared. It is still there.
If you have 1 billion dollars and you buy 1 billion worth of stock your money doesn't disappear so why would you think it would disappear for a company?
You are completely wrong on this.
In fact keeping 1 billion in cash in a bank account is more likely to cause it's disappearence through bad accounting, taxes and so forth.
The company could sell it's own stock tomorrow on the open market and increase that 1 bill to 2 bill easily. By your definition that would be generating income!!!! Which is wrong!!!!
Hopefully the following example is clear
Company A Balance sheet before stock repurchase
1 bill cash 10 bill cash worth of company A stock
Total assets 11 bill
Company A Balance sheet after stock repurchase
0 bill cash 11 bill cash worth of compant A stock
Total assets 11 bill
So show me the evaporating money?
