Max Karlos is one young student who is not much impressed by the school strikes for climate change.
And the 10-year-old's father, Matthew, was so annoyed by his teachers' plans to hold a "greenie day" on the last day of term that he pulled his son out of school.
He accused the school of trying to brainwash his son.
"They asked us all to dress up as hippies and sing this song, Big Yellow Taxi," Max told A Current Affair.
"We shouldn't be worrying about the end of the world."
The 1970 song, featuring environmentally-oriented lyrics such as "they paved paradise to put up a parking lot", was written by Joni Mitchell and has been covered numerous times, including a 1990s hit version by Counting Crows.
Max said the rest of his class had been happy to dress up as hippies.
"And I thought, what's so good about it? There's nothing good about it," he said.
"They just sit around doing nothing all day."
Matthew said such activities constituted "brainwashing the younger generation".
