I wonder how many protesters will become muslim within a week or 2? From memory, it's a UN religious right for the Muslims to wear face and head coverings.
More importantly, asian's wear face masks when they are out in public sneezing and coming down with a cold. It is especially the public norm and respected in Hong Kong to do so. Now coming into winter, watch for a flu epidemic or a sick society.
Not very smart by Beijing. But what do expect when they start shooting protesters with live bullets and come out in the media and say it's OK.
It speaks volumes of the quality of decision makers in Beijing atm. I am sure Vladimir Putin will be saying "just give me the OK, I will fix".
And China wants to be a super power and dominate the world. Right now it is more like a hormonal teenage boy chucking a hissy fit.
