Further to the discussion about the options, I think options holders would like to known the following. Alan Kohler appeared on Business Sunday as usual this morning, and had the following comments about the Australian equity market.
The current bear market has lasted 9 months. We have fallen 25% from the high.
The average bear market in Australian history has continued for 18 months, and fallen an average of 30%.
The worst bear market lasted 2 years, and fell 60% from the high.
Kohler then commented, 'Unlike the athletes in Beijing, the Australian bourse will be going for a personal worst this time around.'
The options expire in 7 months.
