Big traders and big funds like Merchant Funds have a few things up their sleeves that normal retail players do not have. They pay for accessing to market analysts news channel so they get the news quickly. They have an automated alert system. They have the ability to set up automatic trading when certain conditions are met. They have professional fund managers monitoring the stocks constantly. This is why they exit and enter a stock more timely.
I believe Merchant Funds is trying to maximise their investment as part of their game plan (for any stock). Even though they can dump and get a lot of profit now, they would want to do it when others least suspect and make more profit. If they dump now the stock would crash so quickly. Look at the total number of shares that they traded, it appeared that they were the most active trader for that period. The disclosure showed they did sell and bought back at a lower price. And even though they bought more than what they sold, the price did not recover. So, if they sell more now the price will crash further and rather quickly.
