1. The flag pole - a sharp rise (or fall) in price backed by solid volume.
2. The flag or pennant formation - a short period (1-3 weeks) where the price retraces off the high (profit taking) on low volume.
3. Rinse and repeat.
As per above, the length of the flag pole becomes the target price of the next upswing.
