"It's true, around here they're building hundreds of houses, rezoning the land"

Yet again, Skol (I assume!) is making these ridiculous and uneducated statements - desperately trying to "talk up" the NZ economy ... a bit like Grant Robertson does...

Off the gold thread for a minute....

The fact is, our Govt. are so desperate to solve what they call "the housing crisis", they had allowed 200 million tonnes of our Horticultural Soil to be re-zoned into residential land - putting 200 growers in the Auckland area alone out of business - before it dawned on them that this would make our food production unsustainable. They are now belatedly trying to limit this re-zoning.

They had this "transformational" idea of Kiwibuild - supposedly building 100,000 affordable houses in 10 years - which, as most of us knew, turned out to be a miserable failure and which they have now abandoned. So, what are they building now? Little shipping container type flats ... which are no more than boxes ... and although they have built a couple of hundred of these, they can't sell them because the market doesn't want to live in little boxes - no matter how cheap they are!!
