Well .... maybe some people look at the short volume and recognise it as an indicator of the strength of conviction in a negative sentiment toward future (maybe only short term) SP movement. Say two prospective investment targets of yours which were otherwise equal in all other relevant regards had diametrically opposed short positions - are you saying that that information would not be something you could take into account in making your decision about investment?
Certainly much as made about increasing short positions - why is it not relevant to consider the potential significance of reducing short positions?
