IMO Cairns is not as good compared with Townsville. Cairns relies too heavilly on tourism which can be very unstable depending on dollarvalues, oil & inflation etc etc. Townsville has a much more solid base of industry, mining, army & airforce, not to mention a growing tourism market and many young families migrating from southern areas. Areas to invest - Sth Tnsvle, Nth Ward, West End, Belgian Gardens, Garbutt, Idallia. Just my 2 cents worth, cheers
