The low strip-ratio will help with economics. That's pretty clear from the shape of the ore body and proximity to surface.
That will allow a strip ratio of less that 1. Victoria Gold is 0.95 tonnes waste to every 1 tonne of ore.
A key issue in the failure of GCY was their very high strip ratio. 16 to 1 in Q1 of CY 2019. Plus they had a very patchy ore body ( very narrow zones of ore ).
Donlin gold project gas pipeline will run to the north of the property, so that's one solution for power. Water supplies for heap leaching won't be a problem in Alaska ( unlike gold projects in Western Australia and dry parts of South America ). Water is a key input for heap leaching which is the most economic way to process bulk-tonnage intrusive-related gold ore.
