Also of note is the little if any use of the English language. The understanding of the English language is also fairly minimal, as I found out when trying to explain my food allergy ( Celiac - Gluten free ). Another lady I met during the day, had had various translation cards printed up in 4 differnet Asian languages to explain her peanut Allergy. "Why does the media and government not discuss the value of the 'australian culture', " Because Australia was settled by People of Anglo / Britsih decent / white skin etc. In this day and age anything associated with the British Colonial era is looked upon at being nothing more than an embrassment and anything possible is done to eradicate it from history. So basically our leaders and media etc, class our country and culture as nothing more than a racist hate filled scourge on the very structure of Australian society. The quicker it is forgotten about and removed from Australia's history the better off will apparently all be. My Melbourne experience has convinced me that the Good Doc here is 100% on the money. Little bit of luck in the next 50 odd plus years our big cities will be shining examples of Jarkata, manila, Bangkok etc. Something to look forward to apparently. As long it nothing to do with white, she'll all be alright.

I think Britannic whitey has proven itself to be highly adaptable and frontier nomadic. Perhaps our mojo tells us we should be moving on to civilise somewhere else, but where do we find the next west?
