SC6 contains 6% Li2O
Li2O is 46% Li (atomic weight of lithium = 6.94, Oxygen = 16, (2*6.94)/(2*6.94+16) = 0.46)
so SC6 contains about 2.8% (0.46*6.0) lithium
Lithium hydroxide is LiOH and contains about 16.5% lithium
Lithium carbonate is Li2CO3 and contains about 18.8% lithium
So, you need 16.5/2.8 = 5.9t of SC6 for 1t of hydroxide and 18.8/2.8 = 6.7t of SC6 for 1t of carbonate
This is theoretical and ignores waste along the way. So maybe 7t for hydroxide and 8t for carbonate of SC6.
So 40kt of hydroxide = 280kt SC6, 100kt = 700kt SC6.
Going from ore tonnage (O) to SC6 tonnage (SC6), came up with this crude formula,
SC6 = O * G * R / 6 where G is the average deposit grade, R is the recovery
So pushing 2mtpa through a plant with a deposit grade of 1.5% and recovery of 70% would give,
2000,000 * 1.5 * 0.7 / 6 = 350,000 SC6
Any errors are my own
IMO, AVZ should try to conserve this cash to wait out the sector low. Finish the feasibility studies, increase its project ownership % but sit tight and conserve cash and let the local road construction/development projects continue around it. Once the hydroxide demand kicks in from the 811 cell usage taking off, this oversupply might end sooner than many people think and interested parties will be back looking again. This time around, the road situation will be improved at least going south.
