Vishalt,
Three good websites to keep you informed on the oil debate are -
www.energybulletin.net
www.theoildrum.com
www.odac-info.org
A general gripe of these websites has been what they believe is the disproportionate attention given to climate change vs oil depletion in relation to their impact on life as we know it.
I found Jared Diamond's book "Collapse" motivational to learn more about oil depletion, but this has meant finding websites, registering for newsletters, buying books from overseas and generally not relying on what you imply as passive media exposure.
The more eccentric but entertaining commentaries are -
www.kunstler.com
http://www.princeton.edu/hubbert/index.html
and last but not least Colin Campbell and his worldwide ASPO sites.
A great book by James Kunstler from early 1990's -
"The Geography of Nowhere" where even back then he concludes that post WW2 suburban development in the USA represents the greatest misallocation of resources that the world has ever known. A great read that was not fed to me via regular media.
Try to enjoy your day job even without conviction.
Cheers,
Al
