That chomsky peak oil article was published in 2005. Non-opec has not been able to pump more oil than it did that year in 2005 despite huge increases in prices. Non-opec produces about 60% of the oil so when it starts declining its basically game over opec will not be able to compensate for very long.

I think you are wrong about the whole Club of Rome thing. Do you know who the club of rome is? Do you know they have just updated their website? Do you know what the limits to growth even said or are you just a victim of all the propaganda that surrounded its release as industry launched a smear campaign to keep people consuming. Do you know there have been 2 further updates to limits to growth? Do you know their message is basically the same as it was 40 years ago? :)

Have another look at peak oil, numbers just don't lie and you can't understand the world without understanding about oil IMHO :)
