Thanks OS - that’s right mate we are still in a good place.
I plowed around fence lines etc a week ago as I back onto Yengo Park... had to wear masks due to smoke... the fire was moving more quickly last week some days hot 33-36c and windy up to 90 kms bursts averaged at 40 on the worst day but it’s been lighter this week.
RFS thought it would burn through me last Friday or Saturday but through luck and winds, the days it was windy it was blowing parallel or away from me and the days it was coming closer it was light winds and they have been dropping incendiaries around the area and back burning and water bombing...
over 170,000 hectares burned in a few weeks - amazon is at 906,000 hectares - most don’t realise but that fire is still burning there.
this is the map the red cross is where I am - green is the first weeks burn and the yellow shows a general path of the fire - one wrong day and it comes through has been the last week. The great news is rains look like dropping maybe even tonight here as well!
I’m sure rain this weekend will be the tipping point for controlling this beast... then the Firey’s can just deal with pockets of fire.
RFS are heroes - those men and women have been on day and night patrols for weeks.
I think I’m going to be pretty lucky - last I heard we were at 4 dead 2 missing and 450+ houses lost - saw one bloke had a dribble of silver on his drive... days before it was an aluminium boat - melting point for aluminium 660 degrees!
Thanks mate good luck with your skylights - you could get them fixed or just buy a bottle of shampoo!
