    In reading about EV’s a common problem is the question of driving range and how to improve it and a primary area of research is how to reduce weight as weight directly affects battery range.

    Batteries are actually a big part of the problem because even the best available are heavy and increasing a vehicles range is not as simple as just adding another battery as the added weight of another battery means a diminishing return. A formula has been developed to calculate the optimum number of batteries before adding batteries makes no sense.

    An obvious difference between battery power and conventional fuels is that batteries as they discharge continue to weigh the same. Petrol however as it discharges it’s power weighs less and the actual distance travelled by a petrol vehicle increases as the weight of the fuel in the tank reduces.

    So if you cannot find weight savings with current or proposed battery technology then savings have to be found elsewhere if you are building an EV.

    This in my opinion is why AKIDA will if it works as described be incorporated at the edge in EV’s because it provides a further way to reduce the weight of the components needed to meet customer expectations regarding range while still providing all the bells and whistles that people have come to expect. When developing EV’s it’s all about the weight much like building the Spitfire in WW2.
