Actually I don't entirely agree. If we assume the manipulation is algo implemented (if not actually driven), there has to be a trading model being used to write the algorithms. So I think technical analysis is more likely to work as that is the manipulation tool that is most likely to bring in the independent trader help - within some heavy "practical" constraints on a manipulated stock than otherwise. Fundamental analysis not so much, except where the info is so out there that it can't be ignored. Also I think macro factors are significant - it is hard to fight against major macro drivers - even when you are the manipulator, unless you manipulate the macro's as well.
