This announcement is great news in my opinion. They were never going to extend for 3 or 6 months as that would have been an extremely tight timeline. These kinds of projects need contingency. That's not to say that they will use all of that time, but they need to have a runway with a fat contingency to account for technical issues or further iterations.

Remember that they've stated in the announcement that they're already working on the wafers for the first megabit chip, with the first version of that to be ready mid Quarter 1 2020. That's about three months away.

In the announcement they state that they're aiming for a production megabit chip within the extension timeframe. In other words not the end of the year 2020. I would say they would want at least 2 iterations, which means delivery of a 2nd production ready chip around June/July. Just in time to let LT holders that participated in the SPP to avoid CGT.

Selling now is just resetting your CGT. A great opportunity to average down though.
