A vaccine causes certain cells to produce antibodies against an antigen. These cells usually become memory cells. The human body already produces antibodies against the HIV virus. Vaccines are usually given to prevent infection as well.

How does this drug illicit an immune response similar to a vaccine (such as a HepB vaccine for example). This is a Vpu inhibitor.

I think this is MM again playing with words.

(Interestingly, the ANZCTR registration one of the exclusion criteria was patients who received any HIV-1 vaccine.)
