There's a cohort of people that masquerade around as defenders of scientific rigour and due process, and who make certain strident assertions in defence of their specific cause.
And when asked to substantiate those assertions these people abandon all semblance of logic and reason, either by deflection, reflecting the enquiry straight back onto the enquirer; or when all else fails, resorting to character impugning and personal slurs.
