net profit up 27pc to 26.5m for year

McPherson's Ltd (ASX:MCP) lifted net profit 27pc to $26.5m in the year
to June 30 from $20.94m for 2007.
Revenue improved 4pc to $334.49m from $320.18m.
Operating profit rose 32pc to a record $38.2m, excluding
non-recurring costs of $1.5m before tax related to the proposed printing
joint venture which did not proceed and settlement of a legal dispute.
Basic earnings per share were 41.1c, up from 32.9c.
Final dividend has been increased from 10c to 13c, fully
franked, payable on October 1 to shareholders registered September 8.
Total payout for the year is 25c, up from 19c.
"The record result reflects the continuing growth of our
Consumer Products Division based on strong brands, and continued focus
on cost control and product profitability," said managing director Mr
David Allman.

The company said trading for the first few weeks of the 2008/09
year had been "encouraging".
Chairman Mr Simon Rowell said McPherson's was well-placed to
meet the challenges ahead.
"The strength of brands like Wiltshire and Multix, and the broad
product range, mean there are McPherson's products in every home,
marketed through all major retailers," he said.
"McPherson's continues to create exciting new products which are
both affordable and functionally excellent, supported by highly
effective distribution and logistics facilities.
"The strong balance sheet and satisfactory gearing rate will
enable us to continue to grow both organically and by making selective
acquisitions," Mr Rowell said.
