What about last Xmas? The chart I posted didn't cover that period but looking at the chart on my computer both GLD and RMS price were rising around that time? Because the overlaid chart (GLD in this case) is scaled by some algorithm I don't try to understand, the visual correlation in the 2 charts only seems to hold for medium term periods of a year or so. If you use very long periods (like the 16 years of data available for RMS) the relationship between the two becomes less apparent because of the scaling the computer does to GLD.
