Doing some research on AZS's latest director appointment - Mr. Hansjörg Plaggemars. Have been reviewing the company of his other ASX entity board that he joined earlier this year ( won't cross-promote). Looks like he stepped in as a major shareholder due to the company's direction. Don't think you can compare that situation with AZS at this time but with Teck becoming major shareholders, it may have prompted them to act to have more say.
He hasn't purchased any AZS shares on market as yet. Probably due to not having a director's window to do so as such. Drilling has started after all but perhaps also on upcoming Oppo cash flow news as well.

AZS management holds about 5% of that Australian stake so only 50% shares in Australia for liquidity trading. So that's about 80M or so shares at most if that - most likely less. No surprise daily volumes are small.
