agreed Rob - shorting should be banned - to my thinking the only justification for shorting is to hedge long positions in the same stock say via cfd's - but if shorting stock was banned outright I could live with that quite comfortably because the main reason to hedge is the exaccerbation of price fall due to shorters selling stock they dont own thus you not only have investors trying to get out you have shorters exaccerbating the fall wwith no other intention than to force the price lower an make money- absolute parasites
