In terms of competition, I think one of the risks comes from solid state lithium batteries. ProLogium have just presented at CES2020 a solid state battery that they claim is safe under explosive conditions, and can discharge up to 105 degrees C (https://www.oilandgas360.com/ces2020-prologiums-solid-state-battery-powering-the-transformation-of-explosion-proof-products/). Don’t know round trip efficiency or discharge degradation over time, but I’ll guess RTE is superior to ZBM2. Higher energy density than current lithium batteries. It’s for automotive at the moment, but if Redflow don’t start racing out sales soon, their window could close.
