    I think the markets might think the Freddie Fannie thing is good news at least short-term - the US will pump liquidity into the market via Freddie and Fannie and Financials will no doubt benefit.

    However longer term it's inflationary (big time) and there are lots of small to medium US banks who are loaded up with preferreds in either or both, so I'd expect to see more banks go under (11 so far have bitten the dust). I suspect that commodities may benefit longer term as the money moves back out of financials when the inflationary and other impacts start to be felt.
