Think to argue this is absolutely rubbish. Yes, Australia has now got a 10 year weather record of the least rainfall since record keeping began. That certainly has contributed significantly to these savagery of these fires. Arsonists are responsible for a very small proportion of the fires starting, apparently.
Yes, the fact that there is a weather pattern within the fire itself, making fires even more extraordinary is truly a phenomenon not apparent in earlier fires. Dry lightning also. And the significant dryness all make for the "perfect storm". Probably, bad adage, because we need rain, rain, and more rain. Not just the very occasional 20 minutes of belting down.
