Fair call, JSM, I completely understand that we all have our strategies for how and why we invest and if a chart adds something to our decision making process, well and good.
But I'm not sure that I agree that there are no predictions being made here. After all, saying - if the stock does 'this' then it is likely that the share price could do to 'that', otherwise it may do 'the other' - is a form of prediction. If it isn't, then such statements mean no more than the flipping of a coin and, if that is so, the charting process would be pointless, because hindsight, in the share market, is completely useless.
But, more power to anyone who believes they get a benefit from this form of analysis, I certainly wouldn't suggest that people stop doing something that is working for them.
