An article on Livent a maker of LiOH from carbonate which they have being doing since FMC days.
It discusses why they believe LiOH is the future for EV and why the have kept producing LiOH during the downturn even though at a great expense to them so as to keep their existing customer base happy.
AJM along with Gangfeng are now in competition with Livent for this business with no need to chase a customer base.

Livent could be the third party with their
10 year knowledge on LiOH with a desire to expand in this specific market.
Take out the competition or do a J/V
Expand customer base
Cheaper than converting carbonate to LiOH.
Cheaper and quicker than brine expansion.
There is only 1 OZ hardrock currently supplying this market that is independent and can be bought into and that is AJM.
Secondly AJM and OZ hardrock are well situated to attract qualified employees, have environmental and political stability, and its cheaper to turn spod into LiOH.
Whether it be a third party or refinancing through financial channels I see a positive announcement in a week.

And this article even more specific and now supplying LGChem with 2019 stockpiles to keep them happy whilst they find a way of producing more to meet LG Chem's needs.
