The updated LCP rules under the IED for the EU have mercury targets in line with those of the US MATS limits. Between now and 2021, EU plants and boilers have to comply. Not clear if they go down the US route with AC, but the BREF doc suggests it as one of the best courses of action to address mercury releases. However, CG1 isn't in a position to do anything even if AC was the preferred abatement method used as exporting to the EU would not be economical.
