I don't want a dividend now. I want an affirmation by the company that it will pay a dividend out of profits in the not too distant future, assuming profitability increases. You can buy tokens of a company's equity if you want. I want rights to a share of the profits when they get a bit more established. The finance director wont even say that that is their desire and intention down the track. They're ok, they're getting paid $200-300,000 p.a. I'm losing money on the exchanging value of the shares.
I think that the oil price will make new highs, but I don't think the credit environment or the general stock-market will recover for quite a while. That means that investors and traders might not be supporting the price of even companies that produce a high value commodity. Shares might not be exchangeable at higher prices from even current lows, so I want commitment to a future dividend.
