Check out kitco.com and the historical charts for gold, on average september is a good month for gold IMO, the orchestration in shorting 'gold' and gold companies was in expectation of a rise this month - just a matter of putting a price on it but nobody can do that.
IMO the financials in the US that have been bandied in the press for the last 6 months as being in trouble i.e. Washington Mutual, Wachovia etc are in trouble and this month will see them flushed out or bought out, a bit like spring cleaning but obviously in the extreme sense.
