The limited company is the entity in the capitalist world that we have established to enable risks to be taken with limited liability. Any instrument that buys and sells something that is not a real company share should have no place in the system.
Just like CDOs - puts/calls/indicies just divorce the informed seller from and informed buyer and no one knows what they have invested in. It reduces the sharemarket to a generator of a gambling feed. They could just buy a random number generator.
